Last week was Healthy Living Week in school. On Monday we had lovely weather for Sports Day. Thank you to everyone who came along to support the children and congratulations to the Blue team on their win. On Tuesday we had a Yoga workshop and on Thursday the children made delicious smoothies on the smoothie bikes.

Congratulations to the children who received the end of year Headteacher Award. They were joined by their parents and carers for an assembly on Monday then for a tea party with Ms Lowry.

Yesterday the Lion Learners visited school. The children loved handling the animals - even the tarantula!
Reception Visit to Hesketh Farm

Keystage 1 Visit to The National Coal Mining Museum

Yesterday the children in Keystage 1 had a brilliant visit to the National Coal Mining Museum.
Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue Visit

On March 14th Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue came to talk to the children as part of British Science week. We first became involved with this charity when Thea in Year 1 won an amazing hedgehog house in one of their competitions, which she then donated to us.

Prickly Pigs is a local family run rescue that is completely self-funded and they rely on donations to help pay for everything that they do to treat poorly hedgehogs at their small hospital. On average the treatment and rehabilitation of a hedgehog is £70. Thank you to everyone who donated cat and dog food. They were very grateful.

Keystage 1 Author Visit - Richard O'Neill

Richard O'Neill is a sixth generation master storyteller and author from the Romani tradition. He came into school last week to share his stories with the Keystage 1 children.
Reception Visit to see The Snowman

Reception class went to Pudsey Civic Hall yesterday to watch The Snowman film accompanied by Leeds Youth Orchestra. This was an event organised by Leeds Artforms. Thanks to the parents who came to help.

The children were very excited to meet Jam the T-Rex and the baby dinosaurs today. Keystage one took part in a green screen workshop to create videos.

The children's sing has been amazing in the Harvest assemblies this week. Thanks to everyone at Westfield Infants and Juniors who donated to our Harvest Collection for the Westfield Pantry.
Visit from local MP Katie White

On Friday last week we had a visit from Katie White. Ms Lowry gave her a tour of our school and she chatted with the children and School Councillors.
Kitchen Kids After School Club

Each class planted a seed potato before the Easter holidays and have been watching it grow. Mr Macintosh came to weigh the potatoes in assembly yesterday. Year 1 Blue had the heaviest weight and Year 2 Blue won the best decorated container.

On Wednesday the children made healthy fruit kebabs with Miss Sedman which were delicious. Olympic Day was on Thursday and there were lots of sports activities in the playground including javelin and hurdles. Well done to all the children!
